Field guide

A field guide to the practice of loving kindness

Loving kindness is not a mood we wait to feel, nor a virtue we are born having or lacking. It is a practice - a set of small, repeatable ways of paying attention that, over time, change how we meet ourselves, one another, and the systems we live inside. Like any practice, it is strengthened by returning to it, and it is best learned in the company of others who are also trying.

This field guide gathers the core movements of the work - arriving, revealing, listening, choosing, repairing, and tending - alongside reflective questions, scripts, and agreements you can bring into a conversation, a circumstance, or a circle. Each entry is short on purpose. The point is not to read the practice but to do it, then notice what changed.

Use it slowly. Skip what does not fit your context. Return to a single movement until it becomes part of how you relate, then let the next one find you.
